We can’t walk into a coffee shop these days without seeing a mobile phone (or cellphone, depending on your locale) in everyone’s hand. But, just how widespread is this new-fangled “wireless service” around the world? Well, a new report indicates that mobile phones have a 50% global market penetration rate - in other words, just about every other citizen on Planet Earth get’s their jabber-on with a wireless device of some sort. Informa’s new study pegs the number of worldwide wireless subscribers at a healthy 3.3 billion. Impressive? We think so. But, that doesn’t exactly mean half of the world’s population necessarily has a cellphone in their pocket - some markets boast more than 100% market penetration , which would indicate that some of us have more than one mobile phone (and the requisite wireless plan to make it work). So, just how many of you out there are double-fisted with your phones? We sure are, and damn proud of it! [Via: Yahoo ] --- Related Articles at IntoMobile:
