Android is very open and flexible, and there is a consumer demand for it." The company is also focusing on its own platform, bada. The executive then goes on to talk briefly about Samsung's Windows Phone 7 devices, saying "There is still some professional, specialized demand there" and notes that there is no "visible demand" for Symbian products. Motorola DROID receiving second Froyo update, provides Flash 10.1 supportYesterday a Motorola DROID in our office received a second Android 2.2 Froyo over the air firmware update, FRG22D. This latest update allows DROID users to download the Adobe Flash 10.1 browser plug-in from the Android Market, which is what we did. We expect that all DROID users should receive the update over the next week or so. Read the full story here. Nokia shutting down Ovi Files serviceToday Nokia announced that it is closing down its Ovi Files service. Ovi Files allowed mobile users to access files shared from their home computers while on the road. Nokia plans to shut down the service on October 1 of 2010, according to an email sent to users earlier today. Read the full story here. The new messaging phone offers users a full QWERTY keyboard as well as a touchscreen display and offers users the chance to experience RIM's new operating system, BlackBerry 6.0. The Torch 9800 will be available for purchase both online and in-store for $199.99 on a three-year service agreement starting September 24. BlackBerry Torch 9800 to be offered by TELUS in SeptemberToday TELUS in Canada announced that it will launch RIM's new BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone on September 24. The new Torch features the BlackBerry 6.0 operating system, 3G and WiFi connectivity, and a 5 megapixel camera/camcorder with auto-focus and image stabilization. Apple adds Ping social networking feature to iTunes 10, coming to iPhone in the futureWhile announcing version 10 of its iTunes store for Mac and Windows PC computers, Apple talked up a new music-centric social networking service that it has built into the application. The new service is called Ping, and it will allow users to follow the music related exploits of friends and stars alike, and will eventually be available on Apple iOS mobile devices.
