Counterfeit Nokia N95s entering the UK market

clone/rip | nokia

Just in case you thought Dusan's story about the fake N95-8GB was one of those "oh it will never happen to me" scenarios, don't be so sure UK readers…. Mobile is reporting that N95-8GBs are on their way in to the UK, from Chinese sources, and being knocked out at £150, rather than the usual £350 trade/£550 retail price. The report mentions that everything, including the box is counterfeited - I can only assume the box must be a superb counterfeit, and that traders are not checking inside and powering the devices up (as is stated in the article) for them not to notice. True Nokiaphiles will see from the pics Dusan posted that there are quirks in the hardware that we would spot, but, to the casual eye I can see how these would get overlooked - worryingly, this is apparently only the first wave of counterfeits, they are due to get a LOT better! The story is here if you want to take a look - but in the interim I'd suggest you run any deal that seems to good to be true though the common sense engine in your brain before parting with any Great British Pounds! UPDATE: oh, and here is the video of the fake unit being used - check BAD UI! [Via: Mobile ] --- Related Articles at IntoMobile:
