Alltel’s finally joining the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl - party with today’s announcement that the BlackBerry Pearl 2 is now available to all Alltel subscribers. If you’re not familiar with the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl by now, well, you should have been paying attention - there’s going to be a quiz at the end of all this. Anyway, this SureType successor to the original BlackBerry Pearl will be bringing that 2 megapixel camera and integrated GPS receiver to Alltel’s “Largest Network.” There’s also that regular 3.5mm headphone jack, microSDHC card slot, all packed into the Alltel-only Amethyst (we call it “Blue”) colored body. A 2-year contract and a rebate will net you an Alltel-flavored BlackBerry 8130 Pearl for about $150. RIM planning BlackBerry 8110 Pearl with GPS?

So, with the BlackBerry 8120 Pearl sporting a lonesome WiFi radio, it makes sense for RIM to push a GSM version of the GPS-enabled BlackBerry 8130 Pearl . Word on the street has it that the new BlackBerry Pearl 8110 will be picking up where the Pearl 8120 left off - opting for a GPS receiver in place of the WiFi radio. We’re thinking that 3G is in the cards for the Blackberry 8110 Pearl, but that would be speculation. The launch window for the BlackBerry 8110 Pearl is supposedly slated for early 2008, which means this GSM jobby won’t make it into any Christmas stockings next month. We’ll update when we know more. Alltel picks up the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl with GPS

It looks like Alltel’s keeping up with its larger wireless rivals. The recently launched CDMA BlackBerry 8130 Pearl with that glorious integrated GPS receiver will be making its way to Alltel’s network sporting an “amethyst” color scheme. Expect the Alltel BlackBerry 8130 Pearl to pack in all the same hardware as its Sprint and Verizon kin - which is to say that it’ll rock GPS, EVDO, 2 megapixel camera, microSDHC card slot, and that SureType keyboard. Alltel says they’ll be launching their BlackBerry 8130 Pearl in time for the holiday shopping season (which is quite literally upon us), so look for this new Pearl to drop fairly soon. Oh, and it’ll cost you $150 after a $100 rebate (2-year contract required, of course). Telus brings the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 to Canda

It looks like our friends to the North are getting in on the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 party. Telus has just made the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 (we know it better as the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 ) official for maple-syrup lovers in Canada. The GPS-packin’ BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 is expected to hit the Telus network at $199.99 with a 3-year contract (we’re assuming that’s Canadian dollars, not like it matters now that the Looney is on par with the USD), or $499.99 free and clear. If you’re willing to sign away three years of your wireless life, $199.99 doesn’t sound too bad for a GPS Pearl. On the other hand, it’s going to be an obsolete handset in a year or so - that three-year commitment is pretty hardcore. Verizon Wireless is gearing up for the release of their BlackBerry Pearl 8130 by slashing prices on their data plans. Pearl 2.0 hopefuls on Verizon’s  EVDO network can expect to get their fill of email and web surfing for just $29.99 when bundled with a voice plan - $34.99 as a stand alone, unlimited data plan. It’s nowhere near T-Mobile’s $10 a month unlimited BlackBerry email plan (or their $20 unlimited web and email plan ), but if 3G web surfing and unrivaled coverage area are your thing, Verizon Wireless is your best bet.
