Following on the firmware problems that left the door open to let the common user access an engineering menu and wiping their handset clean of any firmware bits, Sprint and LG have already released the fixed-up firmware for LG Rumor users to download post-haste. It’s been on market for barely a month now and Verizon Wireless has already issued an update to the LG Voyager’s firmware. You do have to get your lazy bum down to a brick-and-mortar Verizon Wireless Store in order to update your LG Voyager with the latest bits, but we hear it should be worth it. Longer battery life, better browsing experience, more applications accessible from the external touchscreen, functional Google Maps - they’re all in the cards for the LG Voyager. Here’s a rundown of the complete firmware updates for the LG Voyager:

• Fixed issue with V CAST Music and 4GB+ removable memory read error
• Adds ability to reset V CAST Mobile TV client
• Update power settings to improve battery life performance

It’s not the major-ish firmware update that the European spec Nokia N95-1 got a little while back , but the more recently launched US version of the Nokia N95 - designated the N95-3 - just got its own firmware update. The new firmware Version 11.2.009 is ready to rock on all American Nokia N95’s - the updated bits include a new fonts and history list for the browser. As expected , Apple has posted a new iPhone firmware today. With the European iPhone launch well underway, the new firmware is now an official part of the iPhone community. As you’ll probably recall, the iPhone v1.1.2 firmware basically adds extended language support with special character sets and keyboards. More notably, the iPhone v1.1.2 firmware gives UK iPhone users access to The Cloud WiFi HotSpot network. Oh, and it patches that TIFF security hole that’s been exploited by all jailbreak solutions. But, if you’re not in the UK (UK iPhones comes pre-installed with v1.1.2 anyway), and you don’t need anything more than English-language support, there’s really no reason to update your iPhone v1.1.1. The new v1.1.2 firmware will break your current jailbreak solution. And, seeing as how you can easily patch that TIFF security hole with an Installer.app application or through jailbreakme , we can’t really see any added benefit to US iPhone users. But, should you feel like updating your iPhone to the new v1.1.2 firmware, go right ahead and download the 160MB update.
