NTT DoCoMo Sound Leaf + Bluetooth headset with bone conduction speaker

When we talk about bone conduction technology , we’re usually referring to the microphone-end of the conversation ( Aliph Jawbone , anyone?)- bone conduction helps eliminate background chatter and noise to give your listener a clearer sound. Well, this Bluetooth headset (in the loosest of terms, since you can’t actually wear this thing on your ear) from NTT DoCoMo rocks bone conduction technology on the receiver-end of the device - that means you’ll be able to hear the person on the other end clearly, even in the noisiest of environments. The NTT DoCoMo Sound Leaf + bone conducting headset connects to your phone via Bluetooth and delivers sound-vibrations directly to your inner ear. There’s no need for a speaker, since the convo is vibrated right into your ear, but there are two microphones on the little flip - one of the directional variety and one regular microphone. The dual-microphone setup should help isolate your voice and cut down on background chatter, which you’ll probably need if you’re in an environment that’s so loud that you need bone conduction technology to hear the conversation. Oh, and bone conduction should give the hard-of-hearing a pretty cool (if geeky-looking) way to keep in touch with friends and family. Anyway, the NTT DoCoMo Sound Leaf isn’t likely to hit our Yankee shores without some clever importing, so keep on drooling over yet another cool Japanese-only gadget that you’ll never get your hands on. Bluetrek SENSE Bluetooth headset - the touch-sensitive headset

announcements | bluetooth | bluetrek | devices | headset | sense

Clean lines, minimalist design, piano-black finish. What more could you ask for in a Bluetooth headset? Well, how about button-free, touch-sensitivity? Bluetrek has announced a new headset that’s not only inconspicuous but also high-tech - the Bluetrek SENSE Bluetooth headset. The fashion-forward Bluetrek SENSE Bluetooth headset is just 5cm long and weighs in at 8g, but packs in a dual-color LED display, voice-guided operation (the headset gives audible confirmation of the selected feature), 4 hour talk-time and 5 day stand-by time, and features a touch-sensitive main-button (well, a non-button, really). The headset can be worn with the slim ear-hook or without - ensuring that anyone can get a secure fit. The slightly mirrored, piano-black finish and smooth, unmarred surface is at once beautifully elegant and incredibly stealthy - it may go unnoticed, but we wouldn’t mind if anyone were to spot the artful Bluetrek SENSE on our ears. And the touch-sensitive controls are just icing on the cake. Bluetooth headset manufacturers are starting to realize that smaller and inconspicuous is better than bigger and flashy when it comes to headsets, and the Bluetrek SENSE embodies that design philosophy whole-heartedly. Expect this beauty to hit the market early next year for £49.99 (about $103). Hit the link for full tech-specs. Technical Specifications:

  • Talk Time: Up to 4 hours
  • Standby time: Up to 5 days
  • Weight: about 8 grams
  • Size: 50 mm (L) x 15mm (W)

We’re used to manufacturers flooding the interwebs with press releases and pictures of their newest product launch, but it seems Sony Ericsson has decided to take the more modest approach. Hidden within a press release for their Sony Ericsson K660i is a mid-range Bluetooth headset - the Sony Ericsson HBH-PV703 Bluetooth headset. The Sony Ericsson HBH-PV703 Bluetooth headset isn’t that much of a looker - it’s a mid-level model, after all - but it boasts some fairly impressive battery life. A full-charge is good for 10 hours of talk-time or 350 hours of standby-time, so you’ll likely never miss a call for want of power. The Sony Ericsson HBH-PV703 also features automatic pairing, voice dialing, and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. We’re expecting the Sony Ericsson HBH-PV703 Bluetooth headset to drop in Q1 2008, price is not yet known. Motorola debuts the Motorola MOTOPURE H12 Universal Bluetooth headset

accessories | announcements | bluetooth | h12 | headset | motopure | motorola | technologies | universal

Following on their “TrueComfort” line of uber-comfortable Bluetooth headsets , Motorola has just announced their newest Bluetooth headset - the Motorola MOTOPURE H12 Universal Bluetooth headset. The sleek, silver, almost Mac-like design (notice the MacBook Pro-esque main button and perforated metallic bezel) adds a touch of style to the headset’s impressive feature set. And, the MOTOPURE H12 isn’t just a looker, it’s diminutive size makes it all but disappear on your ear. The MOTOPURE H12 Universal Bluetooth headset rocks Motorola’s CrystalTalk audio-enhancing technology, previously only found on the company’s high-end mobile phones, to ensure that you can hear the conversation clearly, even in the noisiest of environments. But, it’s not all about hearing the conversation, Motorola wants to make sure that you can be heard clearly and accurately as well. The MOTOPURE H12’s noise-reduction technology works in tandem with a dual-microphone setup to isolate your voice and deliver sharp, natural sounding speech to the listener. But, all the features in the world do nothing for the user experience if the headset is a pain to wear. So, Motorola has also designed the MOTOPURE H12 with the “ TrueComfort ” philosophy of headset design that we saw launched with the Motorola H680 and H375 Bluetooth headsets. As the new flagship of Motorola’s Bluetooth headset lineup, the MOTOPURE H12 Universal Bluetooth headset packs in all the features that Motorola has at its disposal. The feature-set reads like a rundown of Motorola’s Bluetooth headset know-how -  high-fashion design, CrystalTalk technology, noise-reduction DSP with dual microphones, and TrueComfort wearability. Oh, and the MOTOPURE H12 Universal Bluetooth headset is good to go for 5.5 hours of talk-time with continuous noise-reduction. What more could you ask for? What’s that you say? You want the price? Well, dear reader, the price is not yet known, but we can tell you that the MOTOPURE H12 Universal Bluetooth headset will be hitting the market in Q4 2007.
