A functional "Today Screen" that displays at-a-glance information is one of the features that Apple failed to include in their first handset offering. But, that doesn't mean the prolific iPhone developer community is going to sit idly by [...]

Jailbreakme.com updated to make iPhone v1.1.1 jailbreak simpler, one-click solution
announcements | apple | applications | installer.app | iphone | jailbreak | jailbreakme.com | mac os | v1.1.1 | v1.1.2 | v1.1.3We’d be willing to bet that most iPhone owners out there that keep up to date with the iPhone-related posts have already jailbroken their iPhone v1.1.1. Further, chances are even better that iPhone v1.1.1 users have jailbroken their handsets using the Jailbreakme.com web-based solution. Now that the iPhone v1.1.3 jailbreak method is online and greatly simplified (thanks to the iJailbreakMobile application available on Installer.app), we’re willing to bet that many iPhone v1.1.3 owners will be looking to downgrade their handsets to v1.1.1 in preparation for a jailbroken v1.1.3 upgrade. If you haven’t already done so, hit up our iPhone v1.1.3 jailbreak/downgrade guide . Well, we’ve just got word that jailbreakme.com is helping to streamline the process of jailbreaking your v1.1.1 iPhone and updating to a jailbroken v1.1.2. Once you’ve downgraded to the iPhone v1.1.1 firmware and you’re ready to jailbreak the sucker, just head on over to jailbreakme.com (from your iPhone’s Safari browser) and click “Install AppSnapp.” The jailbreakme.com application now installs Oktoprep automatically, obviating the need to install the Oktoprep package prior to updating to the iPhone v1.1.2 firmware. It’s a small update, but it makes life that much easier for enterprising iPhone fiddlers. HOT: iPhone v1.1.3 firmware already jailbroken - full read/write access to filesystem; native third-party applications
announcements | apple | applications | developer | installer.app | iphone | jailbreak | jailbroken | mac os | v1.1.3Welp, that’s the game, folks! Just days after the third-party application-killing iPhone v1.1.3 firmware was released , the iPhone developing/hacking community has already put together a legit jailbreak solution for all iPhones and iPod Touches running v1.1.3 code. Apparently, some firmware code-digging has revealed that Apple’s codename for the v1.1.3 firmware is “LittleBear” - now that’s cute. Now, the jailbreak (which allows full read/write access to the iPhone’s file-system, and thus allows native third-party applications to be installed) solution has been deemed by its developers as too complex for public consumption. That means there is no public jailbreak solution available, but rest assured that this major milestone in iPhone v1.1.3 development puts a public jailbreak solution on track for a near-term release. Just in case you’re more cynic than enthusiast, check out the video clip of a jailbroken iPod Touch, running the v1.1.3 firmware, and demonstrating some Installer.app goodness. The jailbreak solution has been confirmed to work on both iPhones and iPod Touches. iPhone v1.1.2 jailbreak updated with activation and PowerPC support
activation | announcements | apple | applications | iphone | iphones | jailbreak | mac | powerpc | ppc | v1.1.2The one thing about the iPhone v1.1.2 jailbreak was that it only worked with legit, AT&T activated iPhones on Intel-based Mac machines. Well that’s all changed with the newest update to the iPhone v1.1.2 jailbreak. The new jailbreak solution will now activate (allows you to bypass the “Connect to iTunes” screen and use the iPhone without an AT&T contract) your iPhone and works with PowerPC-based Mac machines. If you still haven’t jailbroken (jailbreaked?) your iPhone v1.1.2, here’s your chance.
