It seems LG has another winner with its Viewty model. According to the Korean company’s official release, they’ve been selling around 6,300 Viewtys per day in markets across Europe. And while that may not sound that impressive compared to some Nokia models’ sales, it’s worth mentioning this number exceeded the initial records of LG’s successful earlier models, LG Chocolate and LG Shine comparing with the same period. Now, we doubt the Viewty can beat the “ Chocolate numbers “, but LG is expecting the European-like success with their launch of the Viewty in other markets across Asia and Africa … Full release after the jump. PRESS RELEASE - LG Electronics has announced that its LG Viewty featuring five-megapixel camera phone (model: LG-KU990) has recorded impressive sales performance of over 310,000 units since its introduction to the European market. The high-tech phone has achieved even wider acclaim since entering markets across Europe including UK, France and Germany notching around 6,300 units daily. This number exceeded the initial records of LG’s successful earlier models, LG Chocolate and LG Shine comparing with the same period. All of the rich features of LG Viewty surpassing those of any handset currently on the market have been designed to bring maximum benefit to consumers who place a priority on their viewing experience. In some countries, our product supply is even running low. This impressive result is attributable to the perfect balance between technology and design developed based on consumer insight,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President & CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG Viewty’s success is a significant achievement for LG as it is the first product in a high-technology line of handset at LG Electronics. With the confidence gained from our brisk sales activity, we will continue to improve areas of both features and premium design.” Sales of LG Viewty are expected to continuously grow throughout the world since it has currently launched into the Asian and Middle East markets and been spotlighted as the best Christmas gift item for packing a sleek handset together with a high-quality digital camera. PRESS RELEASE - LG Electronics (LG), a worldwide technology leader in mobile communications, finally unveiled the long-awaited Korean edition of its Viewty phone, which was previously launched in Europe in October. LG Viewty is the first high-tech category phone, in contrast to the company’s popular Black Label Series of design-focused handsets with emotional appeal. Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, “High-tech features and premium design are two pillars of our product development direction, which is absolutely based on our consumer insight. LG’s ultimate goal is to serve and satisfy every single customer individually by offering brand new experiences involving our products, whether it’s emotional attachment, sensory pleasure or technological wonder.” Even though LG Viewty is categorized as a high-tech phone, all the rich features of this camera phone have been designed for a user’s viewing enjoyment. Chang Ma, Vice President of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, adds, “The highly elaborate camera functions of the Viewty phone allow a user to capture the most subtle moments of his or her life and creatively share it with their loved ones.” LG Viewty’s target is not limited only to the handset market. LG also aims to take a share of the high-megapixel digital camera market. Professional-level high-tech camera phone for a quality viewing experience Armed with a 5.0 megapixel camera with certified Schneider-Kreuznach lens and manual focus, this full touchscreen camera phone is for the serious photographer on the go. LG Viewty’s many features enable users to experience true joy while taking pictures and video, viewing and especially sharing. ISO800, SmartLight and Image Stabilizer with a dedicated-key help users take great images in low light or while moving. However, one of Viewty’s most unique features is the ability to play video at one-fourth normal speed, thanks to is high-speed 120fps video recording function. On top of that, the phone’s handwriting editing and drawing function allows consumers to add a creative touch to images directly through the 3-inch LCD touch screen. Finally, a user can share his or her creative work by directly uploading it to the mobile edition of Cyworld, the Korean equivalent of Facebook. For the global version of the phone, the LG KU-990, uploads can go directly to YouTube. The Korean edition of LG Viewty comes in three models of 7.2-Mbps 3G phone, respectively tailored to all three major Korean network service providers: SK Telecom, Korea Telecom Freetel and LG Telecom. The global edition is a single 3.6-Mbps HSDPA model for the European open market. LG’s product development strategy based on consumer insight The fountain of inspiration for LG to develop its handsets is consumer insight. LG categorizes its handsets into design-focused, feature-oriented or value products. The company targets consumers by various segments including Premier, Trendsetter, etc. In all, this comes to more than 20 types of consumers in the global handset market. The company has been conducting consumer preference surveys for these types in fourteen countries including the U.S., the U.K., France, Brazil, Russia, India and China, to find out what consumers really want. Based on the findings of the study, LG plans to develop both fashion phones with differentiated styles and feature phones focused on specific technology themes such as touch screen or mobile internet. Meanwhile, LG will continue to provide stunning designs and features even in the low-to-mid tier product category. “We’ve successfully established the LG brand with design excellence in the global handset market,” said Dr. Ahn in wrapping up the launch event. “Going forward, LG will continue to develop hit products throughout all of our product categories.” LG Viewty was also launched in Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia, Taiwan, UAE and Thailand in November. The phone will be available by the end of this year in other parts of Asia, the Middle East and Africa. ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:LG KU990 Viewty YouTube phone gets DIVX certificationUK to get LG KU990 in October - the LG KU990 "Viewty" is comingLG to release Viewty in Middle East and AfricaLG to launch Wine Phone - LG SV300No surprise here: Japan and South Korea lead mobile TV adoption
