Skype announced for Intel MID platform

Skype is getting out of hand. The popular VoIP application can be already used on the popular smartphone platforms, Nokia Internet Tablet devices (N800/N810), Sony Mylo 2 , and even the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Not to mention that there are in-house phones that work with Skype, as well as 3 Skypephone available through Hutchinson’s 3 network. And now, Skype announced that it will also be available for Intel’s MID platform. After all this is said, one could think of Skype as the potential competitor to the mobile operators. And while most places still don’t have city-wide WiFi networks, at some point in the future people may actually dump their cellphones in favor of Skype-enabled device. We’ll have to wait and see… In the meantime, I can’t wait for some decent MID to give it a try.
