Alltel launches Voice2TXT voicemail transcription service
alltel | services | spinvox | technologies | text | transcription | voice | voice2txt | voicemailJust in time to make their Q4 2007 deadline for rolling out their voice-to-text voicemail transcription service , Alltel has just launched their SpinVox-based service - Voice2TXT is finally here. Alltel subscribers can now pay $4.99 to have 20 conversations transcribed from voice into, well, text - with 100 conversation-transcriptions running $19.99. There’s no unlimited plan as of yet, but we can only hope that Alltel will roll out an unlimited plan if this whole Voice2TXT service goes well. Transcribed voicemails are sent as text-messages (not counted against any text-message limit - you are paying an arm and a leg for this service in the first place), after which the voicemail can be casually read at your earliest convenience. The new service requires that Alltel users reset their voicemail system and re-record their greeting. Once that’s done, they’ll never have to listen to a voicemail ever again - as long as their wallets can support the habit. Thanks for the great “Vnotes” app, Erica Sadun. We’ve been using your application to great effect over the past few months, but if Apple brings their own voice recording app to the iPhone, we’re going to have to jump ship and use the official Apple app. Oh, and disk-mode? Be still our geeky hearts! Here’s the translated text from Cnet France : “According to various rumors, it’s next Saturday that should leave the new firmware of the iPhone. This version 1.1.3 provides two major innovations: dictaphone function and the ability to use the telephone as an Apple hard drive. Indeed, the version 1.1.3 of the firmware, due at the end of the week, will mark a turning point since the iPhone will dictaphone and can be used as an external hard drive. ITunes requires, it will be impossible to directly transfer music and videos as with any other player. However, we can transfer documents more easily and content of the telephone network will be accessible. “ We’ve got high hopes for this rumor.
