Google Translate goes iPhone - Translate 24 languages on your iPhone
In a globalized world where information on the latest and greatest mobile gadgets can come from any corner of the planet, in any number of foreign languages, Google Translate has become one of those indispensable tools of the internet. Google Translate not only allows you to translate single words across 24 different languages, but it also allows you to translate arbitrary phrases. iPhone users can now take advantage of Google’s language translation service with an iPhone-optimized Google Translate service. The new iPhone interface gives Google Translate a decidedly iPhone-like feel, complete with text fields, drop-down boxes, and a layout perfectly formatted for the iPhone. Google Translate for the iPhone is a web-service, and as such will require a data connection for your Safari browser. So, if you’re traveling abroad, which you likely are if you’re in need of translation services, make sure you keep roaming data access to a minimum. Or unlock your iPhone and use a local wireless carrier. Find the new Google Translate for iPhone by pointing iPhone Safari to google.com and hitting the “More” option. From there you’ll see “Translate.” Click accordingly and you’ll be good to go with all your foreign language translation needs. All you mobile enthusiasts braving the Beijing Olympics’ Orwellian Chinese security operations, draconian censorship, and polluted air would do well to give this new Google Translate for iPhone a try.
