iPhone OS 2.0 firmware expected to go 'Gold' soon
Here's a quick update for you iPhoners out there waiting to get a crack at Apple's next iPhone firmware revision - the iPhone 2.0 OS . Gizmodo has it on tips that the final version of the iPhone 2.0 OS is expected to hit "Gold Master" status this Friday. That means all the final tweaks are nearing completion and most bugs have been ironed out. That also means that the gold version of the firmware is going to be firmed up in well ahead of its expected July 11 ship date. iPhone 2.o OS will be available as a free update to current iPhone customers, while iPod Touch owners will have to shell out an additional $10 to get their hands on the newer operating system - and with support for the AppStore , Exchange, MobileMe , and possibly MMS , the update might be worth the extra cash outlay.
