Don’t you just love the stories involving numbers from China and India? For one thing I love them — they show us just how much mobile industry is growing. Last year, Chinese mobile phone users send 429 billion text messages! Or to put it in a perspective, an average of 967 SMS were sent per user. And while that’s quite an impressive number, let’s not forget that it’s India whose mobile industry is growing at the fastest rate . During 2006, mobile operators in the “world’s largest democracy” doubled subscriptions reaching a total of 150 million users. In comparison, whole Britain has 70 million mobile phone users. Like it or not, the new superpowers are emerging… [Via: Reuters ] ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:U.S. spending on mobile content set for growth1 Million Chinese protest chemical plant with text messgeChina phone industry in numbers; 487 million mobile phone users in the countryNumbers: China has more than 600 million mobile phone usersUsers in the UK are biggest texters in Europe

EA makes more money on mobile than on PS3 and PSP games

We all know mobile gaming is set to explode in the coming months and years. Hence, we see Nokia betting heavily on its NGage platform, and other handset makers are also set to follow the suit (i.e. Sony Ericsson’s rumored PSP phone). The latest numbers from Electronic Arts suggest the gaming giant made twice as much money from mobile as from PlayStation 3. Here are EA’s Q3 2007 figures:

Microsoft Xbox 360 - $218 million

Sony PlayStation 2 - $73 million

Nintendo Wii - $59 million

Nintendo DS - $47m million

Mobile games - $37 million

Sony PSP - $21m million

Sony PS3 - $17 million

Now, we’ve no doubt PS3 numbers will also grow, but it’s also interesting to note that EA’s mobile unit grew only 5.7% from Q3 2006. In sharp contrast, Gameloft and Glu Mobile have seen their businesses rise 51 and 34.9 percent respectively… [Via: PocketGamer.co.uk ] ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:It's a PSP, No It's a Phone, No It's a Rip-off!Fake PSP, Fake Windows Mobile, Fake Phone - Another PSP Rip-OffNokia Games Study Reveals Changing Mobile Gaming Habits WorldwidePatent filing suggests Sony Ericsson WILL make PSP phoneSamsung Anycall Dual Sliding PSP Knock/Rip-Off
