 <title>Skype announced for Intel MID platform</title>
 <link>http://www.skipbx.com/skype_announced_for_intel_mid_platform.html</link>
 <description>&lt;p&gt;Skype is getting out of hand. The popular VoIP application can be already used on the popular smartphone platforms, Nokia Internet Tablet devices (N800/N810),  Sony Mylo 2 , and even the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Not to mention that there are in-house phones that work with Skype, as well as  3 Skypephone  available through Hutchinson’s 3 network. And now, Skype announced that it will also be available for Intel’s MID platform.    After all this is said, one could think of Skype as the potential competitor to the mobile operators. And while most places still don’t have city-wide WiFi networks, at some point in the future people may actually dump their cellphones in favor of Skype-enabled device. We’ll have to wait and see… In the meantime, I can’t wait for some decent MID to give it a try. The overall platform and the devices shown at CES look more than interesting…    [Via:  uberphones ]   ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:IM+ for Skype Software releasedSkype working with UK carrier 3 to launch Skype-compatible VoIP handsetApple looking towards Intel chips for next-gen iPhone - Intel Inside iPhone 2.0Apple teams up with Intel to use Silverthorne chipset in next-gen devicesIntel&#039;s next UMPC platform to be Maemo based?&lt;/p&gt;
