Sprint to launch Airave femtocell in August

Following on speculation that Sprint would go live with its signal-boosting Airave femtocell solution on July 15, it appears that Sprint has finally pinned down a firm nationwide launch date for its Airave. Sprint customers with unacceptable signal strength in their homes can go about fixing their weak-signal issues in one of two ways. They [...]

Skype passes ultimate mobility test

… or at least that's what they were saying to me when they sent me an email on Tuesday. Reading on, the story was about the Skype Nomad, a girl called Rebecca from Oz, who has been travelling around (the world), and finding out how easy it is to use Skype. So really the mobility part [...]

iCall brings seamless GSM / VoIP hand-offs to iPhone - switch between GSM and WiFi networks with ease

There's just something about saving those relatively expensive wireless minutes by using VoIP calling technology to reach out and touch someone. VoIP solutions have already allowed iPhone users to get jiggy with internet-based telephone calls, but the latest iPhone VoIP application to hit the iPhone brings with it the ability to hand-off calls between WiFi [...]

Skype sent me a nice email today to tell me that "Skype is now mobile". Apparently, "More and more people are using Skype on the move – on mobile phones and in WiFi hotspots on the latest portable devices"…. conveniently they listed out a number of ways for me to make use of their mobility [...]

3's Skypephone selling like hotcakes

So, it’s not just the iPhone that’s selling like fresh, delicious hotcakes in the UK. The other hot, new handset to hit the island is the 3 Skypephone. We were waiting on the 3 Skypephone launch to see how the hotly anticipated handset would fare in the UK market, and it’s doing damn well. The Skypephone isn’t the high-end jobby that is the iPhone, but with the prospect of making VoIP calls on a pre-paid handset, it’s not hard to see why 3’s retail stores are having trouble keeping the Skypephone in stock. A spokesperson for 3 said that, “A number of stores have sold out, but there will be plenty of stock in for the weekend.” It seems that the interest factor in making internet calls on a pre-paid phone with a minimum £10 a month payment is high, to say the least. Way to go, 3 and Skype. It looks like you guys got a winner on your hands. We wouldn’t put it in our hands, but hey, to each their own.
